Happy New Year!

I don’t think I have ever mentioned how to download a Dusty Grooves show after it airs! KGNU has a great website called AfterFM where you can go to all of my shows and listen in your browser, download the .MP3 and sign up to be notified when there is a new file to listen to.

Here is the link to the page, Gretchen’s Dusty Grooves Shows

Look at the playlist to see if it’s one that you would like to download. For instance my December show was all soul~funky Christmas music… might want to save that one for next year.

I can’t believe it, but this coming month on Friday, March 25th from 9pm to 11pm I will be DJ-ing my 50th show for KGNU’s Dusty Grooves!  For this show I am going to play my 50 favorite soul~funk songs of all time and maybe bring on some guests too!  Make sure to tune in and check it out.

As far as singing goes, I miss being on stage like crazy, but I need to finish writing some new songs on bass that I am working on and get together a new way of performing.  In the meanwhile I have been sitting in with friends and going out to see music regularly to keep inspired.  Hope to see you out there soon!

…I’ve been popping up here and there.  After the demise of my band by my own hands I have been contemplating and rethinking this dream that started back in 1987 to be a singer. I’ve definitely learned a lot about the music business and various other things over the years and feel that it was a wise decision to take a step back.

As some of you may know I have been playing bass in hopes of learning to compose on the bass and get back to my original love of song-writing.  I have also been showing up at various friend’s shows and with their infinite kindness sitting in with them.  I really appreciate this.  I can’t say when and where I will pop-up, but please Like Gretchen Troop, Singer on Facebook (bottom left of this page) and I will try to let you know where I might be.

I genuinely appreciate all the support you have given me over the years in my journey as a singer and have also heard the requests for me to get my butt back up on stage.  Thank you.

Dusty Grooves will be going down tonight, June 12th at 9pm to 11pm.  Tune in live to KGNU at 88.5FM, 1390AM, or tune in online at http://www.kgnu.org/ht/listencomp.html

Did you miss the show live?  Don’t worry you can download any show after the fact here… http://www.afterfm.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/shows.detail/showID/38/showName/Dusty%20Grooves

Tonight’s show features D’Angelo after his killer concert at the Ogden Theater last Wednesday night.

Hey everybody… sorry for not putting anything up for a while, I have been taking a very needed break from music to plan my next move.

For the most part I have just been DJ-ing on the radio and playing bass.  With the traumatic close of my favorite club of all-time, the Boulder Outlook’s, Blues & Greens, I got pretty depressed about the current state of music and have been curled up in the fetal position on my couch… not really, metaphorically, kind of.

I have been loving DJ-ing for KGNU however and want to give you all a link where you can download my previous shows.  http://www.afterfm.com/GretchenTroop

The December 5th show, after the grand jury decisions that rocked the U.S. socially was one of my favorites, as well as the September 19th show, “All About That Bass”, which features some of the best bass songs in the soul~funk genre.

So, I am still DJ-ing and thinking of heading back to my roots and love of music which was songwriting.  I hope to have some new songs in 2015 and be playing small venues in the area trying them out.  I will let you know when I do… and thanks for checking in on me, all love for you!

Each of the next three Saturday nights I am blessed to have music shows that I hope some of you can make it out to…

Saturday, September 20th, Chris Malley and I (and possibly Bob Tiger) are playing a show at Sun Rose Cafe for the Longmont Artwalk. This musical performance will also have the backdrop of my photography show, “Secrets of Earth” hanging on the wall behind us. Please stop by to support all the artists on Main Street. Main Street in Longmont is closed for the Artwalk event, and you can walk around and hear lot’s of different music and see many visual artists displaying their work as well. Go here for a complete map, http://www.artlinklongmont.org

Then Saturday, September 27th I will be playing with a full band at the Boulder Outlook. The band features, Chris Malley, Bob Tiger and Matt Amundson. I have some new songs, and this will definitely be my last gig at the Outlook. The Outlook is done on November 2nd, officially. So PLEASE come out and celebrate this wonderful club with one last hurrah.

Saturday, October 4th the Women Rock the Night event will be heading to the Buffalo Rose with new line-ups and songs, the charge is $15 at the door or you can buy tickets beforehand at http://ticketswest.com/events/women-rock-the-night/38950/

Also, I now have AfterFM page where you can download all of my KGNU shows, listen to them, see the playlist and subscribe to a feed of my shows. http://www.afterfm.com/GretchenTroop

The 8/22 show was made up of remakes with the original song first and an interesting remake of the same song second. I will be taking to the airwaves again on 9/19 for more Dusty Grooves, so tune in at 88.5FM, listen online during the show at http://www.kgnu.org/ht/listencomp.html from 9pm to 11pm, OR you can listen later via my AfterFM page.

Hope all of you are well and happy and letting art weave it’s fine display through your lives…

The ladies and their wonderful harmonies are coming to Oskar’s in Longmont for an early evening show outside on the patio.  We will be performing from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on the back patio.  We are excited about our new drummer, Deanna Saulsbury.  This lady understands the funk and is a joy to play with!  For details about the show and performers go to womenrockthenight.com

Chris Malley and I will be starting off Twig Salon’s 5th Anniversary party and fashion show on June 7th.  We got asked to open the party after the posters were made, so there is no mention of us, but we will be there.  I will also be offering a 10% discount on all of the photographs hanging at Twig.  I have 28 photographs of varying sizes and formats hanging at Twig Salon.  That show will end on June 30th.  Please come down and check out the fashion show and our set at the beginning of the night!
