Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University with a Bachelors of Science in Illustration Photography.
I have traveled a lot for my graphics work and my husband's science conferences, along the way compiling a bevy of nature photography. I'm honored to have won multiple awards for my photography, and sold images to both individuals and businesses.
Gretchen Troop Photography’s primary business is taking photographs of people while photographing weddings, elopements, headshots, portraiture, engagements, family, events, music promotion, live music shoots, and studio. My clients regularly tell me that I am fun and easy to work with.
I also teach an all-day Beginner/Intermediate level Intensive Photoshop class at Boulder Digital Arts and am the moderator for a monthly Photo Critique as well.
Nothing makes me happier than being outside and taking photographs... I've been doing it for a while. Check out what I've captured in Nature so far...
Portraits are my passion! Mix them with nature and the resulting photographs are magic. Let's go play outside somewhere and I will capture some unique and memorable images of you and your loved ones that will last a lifetime.
I was a professional singer for most of my life and started mixing my arts together back at the beginning of this century when I would perform at music festivals and then take photographs when I got off stage.
My early work led me to being the primary photographer for a large festival for 7 years and taking many photographs of some wonderful musicians.
Weddings are currently my primary business in photography. I have been photographing weddings since 2012 and seem to fall deeper in love with it every year.
I have a dedicated website just for weddings. Click here or on the words Weddings anywhere on this website and you will go there.
Last year I hired Gretchen to take some headshots of me for the cover of my book. She scoped out some places in Boulder ahead of time and picked the perfect spot. The shoot was so much fun -- she really has a knack for getting you to relax and getting the best out of you. She is a genius with backgrounds and lighting...
I have purchased several of Gretchen's nature photographs. They are beautiful. I have one, "Goddess in Rock", in my office, and my husband has "Pathways" in his. We both often get comments about them. We also have "Flatirons Snowstorm" up in our house. Gretchen is an artist.
Working with Gretchen is a wonderful experience! We've hired her on three separate occasions, and each time she took our direction and provided us with exactly the kinds of photos we were looking for. She also had some great ideas of her own that we incorporated into our projects, so it's good thing we used her, as her creativity really took the photos to the next level. We'll definitely use her again!
